Madurai is a major tech centre in southern Tamil Nadu. It has two ELCOT IT parks, an iTNT regional centre for deep-tech startups, and a large TIDEL Park on the way. Industry groups are now pushing for an AI centre of excellence in the city.

What to know
Madurai has two ELCOT IT SEZs: Ilandhaikulam, which employs about 8,940 people, and Vadapalanji, spread over about 245 acres.
Tamil Nadu IT & Digital Services Department, Policy Note 2025-26Foundation stones for a TIDEL Park in Madurai (about Rs 314 crore, 5.34 lakh sq ft) were laid in February 2025.
