IIT Madras aims to have its Garbhini-GA2 AI model, which estimates foetal age from Indian ultrasound data, ready for hospital use by 2027-28.
The model was validated with data from CMC Vellore. The next step is fitting it into ultrasound machines.

An EY and CII report says Coimbatore has over 75 global capability centres and could host nearly 200 by 2032.

Madras Christian College built an AI voice-to-text tool so blind students can dictate exam answers without a human scribe.
Student interns at the MCC-MRF Innovation Park built the tool. It is due to be used before the November 2026 semester exams.

IIT Madras Research Park and Unicorn India Ventures announced the first close of a deep-tech fund aiming for Rs 600 to 1,000 crore.
The fund plans to back 24 to 30 early-stage startups in areas such as robotics, space, defence tech and semiconductors.

IIT Madras and CMC Vellore researchers built AI tools to predict chronic kidney disease risk and sort kidney CT scans into four types.
The scan classifier was trained on more than 12,000 images. The team plans more validation with patient data before clinical use.
