The announcement came in the Assembly. A separate AI platform to match young people with verified overseas jobs gets Rs 50 lakh in its first year.
What the bots will do
The state government will add an AI chatbot and an interactive voice bot to Mudhalvarin Mugavari, the CM Helpline portal. People will be able to use them to register a petition, check its status and find out what action was taken. The bots will cost Rs 2.18 crore a year, according to DT Next.
The state said the tools are aimed mainly at senior citizens and people who struggle with web portals. The plan was announced during the Assembly debate on demands for grants for the Public Department.
Kiosks in every Collectorate
Digital kiosks will be put up at all 38 district Collectorates and at the Chief Minister's Special Cell in the Secretariat, to make helpline services easier to reach. Rs 30 lakh has been set aside for them. The report does not say whether this is a one-time sum.
An AI platform for jobs abroad
The state also announced an AI-based platform called Instant Global Match. It will match young people from Tamil Nadu with verified jobs abroad, based on their qualifications, skills, experience and language ability. It gets Rs 50 lakh in its first year. Eligible jobseekers will also get free German language training from level A1 to B2.
Other measures in the same debate
Monthly help for Sri Lankan Tamils living in camps will go up. Family heads will get Rs 1,800 instead of Rs 1,500, at an extra cost of Rs 14.95 crore a year. Education help for these students rises from Rs 42,000 to Rs 48,000 each.
Help for poor ex-servicemen and widows rises from Rs 4,000 to Rs 6,000, covering 250 veterans and 600 widows. A Rs 38 lakh web application will handle attendance, transfers and e-signatures for 8,887 staff of the Tamil Nadu Ex-Servicemen's Corporation.
DT Next did not give a launch date for the chatbot, the voice bot or the kiosks.
Why it matters in Tamil Nadu
The state says the chatbot and voice bot are meant to help senior citizens and others who find web portals hard to use file and follow up their petitions.
