Who is responsible
theTN.ai is run by Paul Jeevanesan, who decides how personal data on this site is used (the "data fiduciary" under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023). Contact for anything about your data: editor@thetn.ai.
What we collect and why
- Your email address, only if you sign up for the TN AI Brief, so we can send it to you. We also keep a record of when and where you agreed, to show you consented.
- A nomination, only if you send one for the TN AI 50: your name and email, and what you tell us about the nominee.
- Visit statistics, only if you click "Allow" on the cookie bar.
- Basic server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested), kept by our host to run and protect the site.
We do not sell your data, and we use it only for the purpose you agreed to.
Who handles it for us
- SendPulse stores the subscriber list and nominators' contact details, and sends the email brief.
- Our own server keeps a private copy of each TN AI 50 nomination, outside the public website, and short-lived records used to stop spam (an anonymised code for your connection, deleted within a day).
- Hostinger hosts the website and keeps server logs.
- Google runs Google Analytics, only after you allow it.
These companies may store data on servers outside India.
Analytics and cookies
We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages help people. It sets cookies, so it does not load until you click "Allow". If you click "No thanks", or ignore the bar, no analytics code runs. Change your choice any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page. The site remembers a few choices in your own browser, such as the last filter you used; that never leaves your device.
Signing up and leaving
Signing up takes two steps: you enter your email, then click the link in the confirmation email. Every brief has an unsubscribe link that works in one click. The brief is for people aged 18 or older.
TN AI 50 nominations
We use a nomination only to run the TN AI 50. Nominees are not contacted unless they are shortlisted, and nothing about them is published without their agreement. Ask us to delete a nomination at any time.
How long we keep it
We keep your email address while you are subscribed. When you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, we remove it from the list, keeping only what we need to make sure we don't email you again. Nominations that are not shortlisted are deleted after the list is published.
Your rights
You can ask us for a summary of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, withdraw your consent, and name someone to act for you. Email editor@thetn.ai; we reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
