xAI released Grok Voice 3.0, a speech-to-speech model that tops Artificial Analysis's voice index, at the same USD 0.08 per minute as version 2.0.

What xAI released

On 14 Oct 2026 xAI announced Grok Voice 3.0, a speech-to-speech model. It takes spoken input and replies in speech, without turning the talk into text first. xAI says it is the most intelligent model of its kind. It is available now in the company's Voice Agent API and it powers Grok Bot's voice mode.

The price is USD 0.08 per minute, or USD 4.80 per hour, the same as Grok Voice 2.0. xAI does not give a new model name for version 3.0. Voice agents that already use the alias grok-voice-latest were switched to the new model automatically, and xAI says they need no changes.

What the scores show

Artificial Analysis, an independent testing site, gives Grok Voice 3.0 86.9 on its Speech to Speech Index. That is first among the models on its page. OpenAI's GPT-Live-1 scores 83.2, Google's Gemini 3.8 Live scores 82.6 and Grok Voice 2.0 scores 81.3.

Other scores on the same page: 99% on speech reasoning, 97% on conversational dynamics (how well it handles turn-taking and interruptions) and 71.6% on an agent task test called tau-Voice. Time to first audio is 0.81 seconds. That is faster than Gemini 3.8 Live at 1.18 seconds, but slower than Grok Voice 2.0 at 0.70 seconds. xAI's own post reports 74% on EVA-Bench, which it calls the highest.

Where it already runs

According to xAI, the model runs in Tesla vehicles and powers Starlink call centres, which handle about 20,000 calls a day. xAI says roughly 70% of those calls are resolved without a human. These figures come from the company and were not checked by an outside tester.

xAI also says the model costs less per task than GPT-Live-1 and GPT-Realtime-2.1 on Artificial Analysis's Big Bench Audio test. Neither source says which languages Grok Voice 3.0 supports, so Tamil support is not confirmed.

How to try it

  1. Try Grok Bot's voice mode, which xAI says Grok Voice 3.0 now powers.
  2. For your own product, use xAI's Voice Agent API. The price is USD 0.08 per minute.
  3. If your agent already uses the alias grok-voice-latest, it has been switched to version 3.0 and needs no change. xAI gives no versioned model name.
