How to apply for TANSEED
TANSEED is StartupTN's seed fund for early-stage startups registered in Tamil Nadu. It gives up to Rs 15 lakh to green-tech, rural-impact and women-led startups and up to Rs 10 lakh to others, in return for a 3% stake. It opens in editions: TANSEED 8.0 opened for applications from 6 to 20 Dec 2025.
What TANSEED gives you
TANSEED, the Tamil Nadu Startup Seed Fund, is run by StartupTN. It gives equity-linked support of up to Rs 15 lakh to green-tech, rural-impact and women-led startups, and up to Rs 10 lakh to startups in other sectors. (Dinamalar)
The money is not a free grant: StartupTN takes a 3% stake in each startup it backs. Selected startups also get a one-year accelerator programme with mentoring, priority access to networking events, and chances to join national and international startup delegations. (Dinamalar)
Check that you can apply
Your startup must be registered in Tamil Nadu, enrolled with StartupTN and recognised by DPIIT, the national startup registry run by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade. (Dinamalar)
Each edition's call sets out the full rules, including what the money can be spent on and which companies are excluded. Read the official StartupTN notice for the edition you apply to before you start.
Apply in four steps
1. Get your startup recognised by DPIIT on the Startup India portal, if it is not already.
2. Register your startup on the StartupTN website, so you are listed with StartupTN.
3. Watch for the next TANSEED edition. Calls open for a short window: TANSEED 8.0 opened for applications from 6 to 20 Dec 2025. We had found no newer call when we last checked. (Dinamalar)
4. When a call opens, apply online through the StartupTN website before the window closes. Our opportunities page and Monday email list it when we see it.
What to prepare while you wait
This is our advice, not StartupTN's rules. Because the window is short, have the basics ready before a call opens: your registration and DPIIT certificates, a short description of the problem you solve and who pays for it, what you have built so far, and how you would spend up to Rs 10 lakh or Rs 15 lakh on a prototype, product or pilot.
Keep the plan specific to what the fund pays for. A clear link between the money and a product milestone is easier to judge than a general growth plan.
